Popular regions in Uganda
Its largest National Park is named after Queen Elizabeth I and is its most popular tourist destination. It contains a wonderful diversity of ecosystems varying from the wide open spaces of savannah to shady forests, sparkling lakes and wetlands with large bird populations. All the classical Big Game are found in the park and more than 600 species of birds. Its fame relates to some of the rarest primate species found on earth.
The park offers some magnificent views of the Rwenzori Mountains, large craters and green rolling hills. Herds of buffalo, elephants and hippos feed on the green leafy belt along the Kazinga channel. Here too lions use the large fig trees from where to pounce on unsuspecting buck including the rare Ugandan kob.
Local communities in and around the park provide the opportunity for tourists to listen to their fascinating indigenous stories and music.
